Synesthesia

[ sin-uhs-thee-zhuh, -zhee-uh, -zee-uh ]

noun:

1. a sensation produced in one modality when a stimulus is applied to another modality, as when the hearing of a certain sound induces the visualization of a certain color.

2. a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway

To me, art is a language. It’s design is to bridge the gap between people, and connect us in ways that are unexpected.
And my experience with Synesthesia is one I’ve been asked about by so many, that the idea hit me: how can I show people what I experience? What I see, hear and feel?
The result is below; I pick a song that I love, and listen to only that song on repeat while walking around with my camera. I will find the place that resonates the most with what I’m listening to, and snap the photo. When editing, I will listen to only that song, and shift the colors, textures, and shapes into what I see when I listen to that song. My hope is to show you what I see, and build that bridge.
